In May 2013, Maryann Kaikai, Creative Director of Madam Wokie, won the Best Designer Award at the Inaugural Youth Excellence Award 2012. The event was held in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The award was accepted by Zulaika Sesay, since Maryann was away traelling on business.
