As the world works towards finding sustainable ways to address the climate change crisis, it is becoming evidently clear that the fashion industry will have a huge role to play in reducing waste and carbon emissions. Fast fashion (the overproduction of garments/textiles) is a huge contributor to domestic and international waste, and in the last few years, there has been increasing calls for designers and manufacturers to regulate the production of clothing and textiles to more sustainable levels.

At Madam Wokie, we have therefore made it a priority to ensure that all our garments are timeless, durable and of the best possible quality, to ensure longevity and reduce wastage. We are also working to ensure that most of our fabrics and clothing are produced locally, to reduce our carbon footprint.

To emphasise the importance of producing good quality fashion as a way of reducing waste, this week Madam partnered with is luxury fashion connoisseur, Yeama May, to share some durable, timeless pieces designed by Madam wokie in 2013 and 2014, which still look amazing in 2019.

The post really highlights how fashion is shifting toward durability and purpose, where clothing is no longer just about trends but about pieces that last longer and feel meaningful over time. It reminded me of a time when I was trying to balance studying for exams with learning about sustainable design ideas, and I kept getting overwhelmed by deadlines and scattered focus. I was honestly stressed until I used take my online GRE exam to manage my academic pressure and give myself space to actually reflect and learn properly. It made me realize that both learning and lifestyle choices improve when things are built on patience instead of pressure.
