In March 2012 Madam Wokie unveiled the Harmattan Collection at Arise Magazine Fashion Week. We decided to make use of our locally woven country cloth and Vlisco Holland Wax, "Ankara" .
The Harmattan is a wind that blows from the north across the whole of West Africa, so what this collection is trying to show is how both textiles from opposite continents can be paired together or worn separately without us losing our individuality. The collection is Sexy but polished and glamourous : a country cloth dress paired with straw bags and ankara dress paired with a straw bag transforms a woman from day time chic to night time bombshell.
