Madam Wokie in ESSENCE Online Magazine

In August 2019, Madam Wokie was featured in an ESSENCE Online Magazine post on 10 suitable pieces for the annual Afropunk festival.

According to ESSENCE Magazine, " This weekend, hundreds of black people will gather in Brooklyn for the annual Afropunk festival. Afropunk ultimately serves as a safe space where black and brown people can enjoy live music in a capacity that is welcoming and celebratory of our culture. While the festival has expanded to other cities like Atlanta and London, New York is home... And you can bet, no one does festival style like the Afropunk crowd. This is the perfect place to rock your natural locks and experiment with your style because you can guarantee someone else will be doing the same."

The Madam Wokie feature was alongside several other African designers including Tongoro from Senegal; Loza Maleombho from Côte d’Ivoire; and Lavie By CK from Cameroon.
