In 2013 Maryann Kaikai, Creative Director of Madam Wokie attended the charity fundraising event by Tiffany Persons of Shine on Sierra Leone in New York. Shine on Sierra Leone is a non-profit organisation that actively raises awareness for Sierra Leone’s needs and creates sustainable programs to promote thriving self-sufficient communities and rich cultural experiences in both Sierra Leone and the United States. This is done through campaigns on education, the Birthright Education Programme, microcredits, sustainable development, computing and adult literacy.
